At DiRAD we strive to create a work environment that our employees are not only comfortable in, but want to keep coming back to. To show how much we value our team we do a monthly Company Spotlight to highlight those doing great things.

This month’s Company Spotlight is focused on Nicholas Furnia.

How long have you been at DiRAD?

I have worked for DiRAD just a little over 4 years. My first day was December 5th 2018.

What is your favorite thing about technology?

I’d say my favorite thing about technology is that it enables us to view or perform something in an entirely new way. Helping us ever evolve as a society.

What inspired you to get into your field?

My inspiration to get involved was to just try something different. Get away from the same routine I had been in since college.

What is your favorite piece of technology?

My favorite piece of technology is my phone. It’s a lens to the world that fits in the palm of my hand.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

I would consider fashion/fashion culture a hobby of mine. I’ve always been interested in this because it’s a form of art you live in. I also love to travel. I’m typically on a trip whenever I have the opportunity ( I also frequent Manhattan for quick getaways or expos ).

What word would you use to describe the company culture at DiRAD?

The word I would use to describe DiRAD would be Compassion. During the first year of my employment, I had to face a rather large personal challenge in my life. 2 people in particular made this possible to overcome. ( Kathy C and John M ) Had it not been for their understanding and support I don’t know if I would be where I am today.

Tell us a little about your life outside of work.

Outside of work I am heavily involved in the recovery community in the North East. I primarily assist with young people who suffer from alcohol and drug abuse. Being a sober individual myself I know what they are going through and how to help them live better lives. I work on conventions, fund raising events, meetings and community outreach.

What’s your favorite quote?

My favorite quote is from Alice in Wonderland. “When you can’t look on the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark.”
