In this Company Spotlight, we’re pulling back the curtain to shine a light on our Accounting Department and the incredible individuals within it.
How long have you worked at DiRAD?
Dawn – 4 ½ years

How has your job changed over your employment with DiRAD?
D – Accounting has gone through many changes like changing from paper documents to digitalization. The last 2 years our company has grown to approximately triple in size with the addition of a large call center. This has been a challenge for all departments at DiRAD especially HR.
L – Grown exponentially.
J – More responsibility.
How much interaction does accounting have with other departments at DiRAD?
D – Accounting touches all departments. DiRAD works as a team from tech, call centers and administration, we all help each other out.
L – Quite a bit – especially with tech support.
J – Not enough sometimes, sometimes too much.
Are there any mentors, professional networks, or resources that have been particularly valuable in supporting your career growth, and what advice would you give someone seeking a similar career path?
D – I have a small network of other controllers I have worked with over my career and we get together often to support, share knowledge and encourage each other. If you enjoy analyzing numbers, building spreadsheets and math, it may be the right career for you!
L – If you love numbers – do it!
J – Dawn and Lisa are always available (helpful) for help if something new or unusual comes up. Their knowledge is inexplicable. LOL
What would happen if accounting ceased to exist?
D – Hmmm…it would be like ships without compasses, sailing blindly into bankruptcy. 😊
L – The world would stop revolving ! 😊 Business couldn’t buy anything, sell anything and employees wouldn’t get paid.
J – Chaos (What’s that over/up there?)
What are some things you love about working for DiRAD?
D – Stress free work environment and flexibility.
L – The challenges of the job. The people. The work environment including pets at the office.
J – Flexible, Opportunity and positive workplace/atmosphere.
How is DiRAD different from other places you’ve worked?
D – This is my 1st job where they offered remote working. I love the flexibility, time savings with no commuting, improved work-life balance and increased productivity.
L – Much more relaxed environment.
J – Flexible, recognition and close to home.
Tell us one thing you’re loving right now (music, books, snacks, TV shows, hobbies, anything!)
D – I enjoy watching crime solving shows & documentaries on cyber crime or scammers! It always amazes me the level of scams out there and I believe knowledge helps you stay safe and away from getting scammed!
L – Love music, concerts at SPAC and local artists. Love NASCAR!
J – I enjoy helping Senior citizens with indoor and outdoor chores or anyone that needs a little help. Love the outdoor in the Adirondacks.
